Rotary Club of Half Moon Bay Holiday Cheer

We convened in the evening rather than our usual midday time.

Inspiration Thought: Stacy opened with an inspirational quote from Martin Luther King Junior:

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

Happy/Crappy News smiley/crying
Ginger reported that Cliff Docherman is doing well and recently celebrated his 95th Birthday...adjusting to being around so long. He advised to soften your works because you never know when you will have to eat them!   He also shared that a smile is the easiest way to dress well!

It was noted that Eric Shapira had neck surgery recently and is recuperating at home.

Dick Charnock has had back trouble and is flat on his back at home.

Delivery of lunch to Abundant Grace was made today by EJ keeping up our commitment to deliver burritos or sandwiches to Abundant Grace on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They are much appreciated, especially in this cooler, wetter time of year.

The Fence project at Abundant Grace was funded through a local grant and the short fall between our grant ant the lumber costs has been covered by our small grants of around $600.

Then the fun began.

Next we engaged in a trivia contest in smaller breakout groups. The themes were about the Seasonal Carols and Movies and the good natured competition was quite fun and there were prizes!

Next there was the Big Spin for wonderful Rotary branded prizes. It led to much hilarity as gifts were offered in exchange between the golfers and non golfers,  etc,  it was fun for all!

Members were spotlighted for their holiday themed sweaters, get ups, backdrops and especially festive hats.

President Mary Rogren is to be thanked for all her extra efforts to make this a cheerful and special get together at years’ end!

The club will be dark on December 24th and 31st with the next meeting scheduled at the usual time on January 7, 2021.
