Article by Joe Brennan

Twice Past President Liz Schuck introduces DG Mitone.

Mitone joined Rotary in 2005 sponsored by Ralph Ely who told her “These people will be your greatest firends”…which has turned out to be so true! She has served in District offices leading to her position today
She has also been a Shelterbox ambassador since seeing their good work and quick response to a hurricane’s damage in the Philippines while visiting her grandmother.

Her hobbies are gardening and Beach Clean-ups. She traveled to India for Polio Plus vaccinating children with Liz Schuck.  She is a Certified Financial Planner with Vantage
Mitone was born on June 29th in the Philippines and arrived here as a teenager.

Mitone presented her polished and informative slide show for introducing herself, her goals and reinforcing those of Rotary as she travels the District. She promotes “Every Piece Matters” and her clever pin is a puzzle piece. She has had them made in four colors, one must attend different gatherings to collect each color.

Her Chief of Staff is JT Forbes of San Francisco’s Club #2. There are 90 team members in District 5150. The district comprised 41 Clubs in Marin, San Feancisco and San Mateo counties and are part of “Big West” comprising Zones 26 & 27. The goal is to grow Membership 5%.  Rotary International’s President this year is Francesco Arezzo of Ragusa, Italy, whose motto is “Unite for Good”. His goals are “Membership, Polio and Peace”

We are Peace Builders which is one of Rotary’s seven Areas of Focus. The District has eleven Global Grant projects in the pipeline. Rick Chin is guiding the Water & Sanitation projects.

Ending Polio remains a number one priority, noe more than ever! The Gates Foundation’s 2 for one matching promise is still in place. The network developed for eliminating has been effective in addressing other human health threats most recently Covid.
