What We Do

Community Service Projects

  • Cook, prepare and serve free breakfast on the last Wednesday of each month from 6 am to 10 am for the community.
 
  • Every year, we purchase and distribute illustrated dictionaries to all third graders at all 4 of our local elementary schools. 
 
 
 
 
 
  • Adopt a Family with Coastside Hope- we adopt seniors and members volunteer to purchase and wrap presents as well as help to manage the warehouse.
 
  • Along with members of other Rotary Club members, we participated in the California Coastal beach cleanup in September and other beach cleanups throughout the year. 
 
  • Annually, we host a welcome lunch and provide gift certificates to new incoming teachers in the Cabrillo Unified School District.
 
  • Coastside Hope Special Delivery program – monthly shopping for personal items for 8 families registered with Coastside Hope and members pack and deliver.
  • We constructed and installed 8 "Little Libraries" in different areas of the Coastside with approval of the City of Half Moon Bay. We continue to stock and maintain these Little Libraries. 
 
  • Our Rotary Team participate in the annual Senior Rehab Day. Some Club members also provide as-needed yard clean ups for homebound seniors throughout the year through the Senior Coastsiders. 
 
 
 
  • Club members participate in the “Meals on Wheels” program to act as back up relief for volunteers who are unable to be there.
 
  • Relay for Life with the American Cancer Society - Club team annually participate and raise funds for cancer research.
 
  • Life Skills at the High School - Club members provide a series of classes at all three Coastside Schools that help fill some education gaps that may be missing for graduating seniors and prepare them to enter the workplace. We wrap up the sessions with mock interviews. 
 
  • Provided support for the farm workers affected by the tragic shootings of Jan. 2023. We created a special fund and have been providing support for them by purchasing household items as needed including mattresses as they are "first time” apartment dwellers, along with other small appliances as needed. We partner with Coastside Hope on this project. 
 
  • School Backpack Drive - donated to the backpack drive. 
 

International Community Service Projects

  • Annual trips to La Paz, Mexico to visit and support Fundacion Astra, a health clinic which provides maternal and child health care and prevention programs and nutrition education. 
 
  • Contribute and support ShelterBoxUSA, a Rotary partner providing emergency shelter to those in need after natural disasters and/or conflict.
 



  •  
  • Contribute to the good work of free cleft lip and palate surgeries through Alliance for Smiles.
